    Highly Anticipated ACG Event AMG-Chan 2019 Hits The Road This Weekend – May 11-12 @ Quill City Mall


    Here we go!

    AniManGaki-Chan (or AMG-Chan), the spin-off of one of Malaysia’s largest Animation, Comics, and Games (ACG) Convention, the AniManGaki, is making a return this year on May 11 – 12, at the Quill Convention Centre at Quill City Mall.

    With a projected attendance of 5,000 visitors from Malaysia and its neighbouring countries, the AMG-Chan organizer carries on with their aim to unify all ACG enthusiasts and to provide a platform for talents to shine.     Day 1 & 2 Performance Schedule



    The AMG-Chan boasts an eventful line-up of activities for both veteran cosplayers and casual event goers alike. If you are a coser who fancies your chance to represent our beloved nation to an international Cosplay Competition, there’s something for you here. If you have an animal-themed outfit and have been looking for an excuse to wear and parade it, there’s a special reason for you to do it this coming weekend.

    Or maybe you just want to walk around and cast your loving gaze at a buncha beautiful artworks produced by the network of talented and creative minds of our local folks. Looking to play some games with your friends, see some nice cosplays, or dance and sing along to awesome J-Pop performances? They got it covered too!

    All-in-all, there’s a little bit of something for everyone and here’s a complete list of what exactly you’d be walking into this weekend :3

    • Clara Cow’s Cosplay Cup (C4) Preliminaries Cosplay Competition
      C4 attempts to bring back the fun and bonding between cosplayers of different countries to the international stage. The most relaxed international cosplay event currently organized in Europe, with the main prize of a trip to Japan for the winning team with all expenses covered!C4 will have its fifth round at AnimeCon 2019 in the Netherlands in June 2019. Before that date, the preliminary round for the selection of the qualifying Malaysian representative team will be held in AMG-Chan 2019.
    • Gijinka Cosplay Competition
      This competition aims to promote innovation, creativity and to simultaneously introduce the concept of “Gijinka”(擬人化). In short, Gijinka is a fan re-design of a subject matter in a human form (i.e. humanisation / personification).The theme for AMG-chan 2019 Gijinka Cosplay Competition is Chinese Zodiac – Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
    • J-Dance Cover Competition
      J-pop lovers are able to express their passion and talent through dancing. The winner will dance their way onto the stage of AniManGaki 2019.
    • Doujin Alley (Artist Tables)
      Artists will set up booths to display their works, sell handmade crafts to attendees, and fulfill commission requests. So far, 80 Artist Booths will be present at AMG-Chan 2019.
    • Video Game Arena
      A collaborative work made possible by Infinite Carnage Malaysia and Malaysian Touhou Brigade, participants will compete live in several featured tournaments or casual play. For the newbies, tutorials are available upon request
    • Exhibitor Booths
      There will be 30 Exhibitor Booths consisting of event organizers offering products/services, community groups, merchandise sellers, and more
    • Omatsuri
      Think of it as a mini fun fair, consisting of game booths. Attendees get to test their skills and try their luck at winning
    • Stage & Band Performance
      Featured Emcee: Jasmine Minori
      Special Guest Emcee: Dante, Junnie, & GG Twins
      Stage line-up includes The Crestfall Shuffle, Za Cosplay Troupe, QUEEN, ShioMio, Mewriel, 02 PRO, & Rixie. There will also be a QnA for Okita Kung.

    No ACG event is complete without Special Guests <3, and it seems that AMG-Chan fully intends to observe the tradition. Here’s the list of Special Guests who’d be making an appearance at the event this weekend!

    • Weon Haur & Fujiwara Kazuko (Cosplayer)

      They are a well-known cosplay couple from Malaysia, widely recognized for their craftsmanship for their cosplays from several series, the most prominent ones are characters from League of Legends (Rakan and Xayah) & the Fate Series.
    • Momo Rex & Fyra Zaidi (Cosplayer)

      This dynamic duo is the winner of AMG-chan Cosplay Competition 2018 and represented Malaysia in the Netherlands. They are well known for their handcrafted cosplay and their accomplishments are no stranger to the local community
    • Venus Lim (Cosplayer)

      One of the prominent cosplay figures in the Malaysian cosplay community, Venus Lim have been around in the ACG scene even when Kei-chan was only a cub! She is the founder of a specialised cosplay shop (Costurera Haberdashery) where she also works as the shop’s main costume designer.
    • Okita Kung (Artist)

      Well known for his work on Fate Series, this artist from Thailand creates detailed artworks that mainly target adult audiences.

    Hey beautiful ladies, men, and whatever gender you identify as! As usual, we’d be going around asking for your permission to take your pictures for our Cosplay Photo Albums! This time around, we’d be taking videos too, so just smile and wave when you see us! (We would be the group with a media dog tag that keeps waving at everyone like we won the Miss Universe).
