We’ve recently gotten our hands on the latest Oppo F9 and here’s what we have to say about it. We love the camera! And we love it so much that we’ve made a separate opinion piece for it. But as a gaming news portal, let’s start with the performance of the F9 on mobile gaming.

Gaming Perspective
Antutu Benchmark
The results from Antutu Benchmark came out perfectly average. The scoring of 136,727 is acceptable considering the F9 is equipped with the medium ranged MTK P60 chip.
GeekBench 4 Benchmark
In GeekBench 4, the F9 performed as predicted. Scoring 1503 and 5752 on the single and multi-core test, it fares perfectly average. Then again, this is just scoring. *shrugs*
GameBench Benchmark
This is where the F9 caught us off guard. While we’re aware that the F9 runs on the ARM Mali G72 GPU and it’s only on a three core arrangement. The GPU itself should perform but not exceptional on graphic demanding games. The results from GameBench however, we’re surprisingly better than expected. By average, the F9 is able to sustain a frame rate of 30fps in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and 28fps in Rules of Survival (No, we did not test it on PUBG. We like variety, Ok?).
Hands-On Performance?
Benchmarks aside, the Oppo F9 performed pretty well when we’ve tested it on Tekken, Pocket City and Sword Art Online; Memory Defrag besides the two mentioned above. It handled all the games perfectly, and there was a significant increase in game performance when it was launched with Game Space.
The Battery
The battery consumption itself is game dependent. 5 minutes on graphically demanding games like Rules of Survival consumes about 2% while Mobile Legends takes 8 minutes to consume the same amount of battery. The OPPO F9 also prides itself with its super fast charging and we dare say so with confidence that this is true. In one of our product shooting sessions using the OPPO F9, we witnessed first-hand how quickly the phone charges. As for its “5-minutes-charge, 2-hours-talk” punchline, we couldn’t find anyone who wants to talk to us over the phone for 2-hours so if you tried this, do let us know if its true.

Look and Feel
[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”148″ gal_title=”OPPO THE PHONE ITSELF”]The OPPO F9 is nice to look at and should fit those looking for a device with a younger trend design to own. The phone features a “waterdrop” design (which is actually a water droplet shaped notch) on its screen. The size of the screen itself is also impressive, covering up to 90.8% in screen-to-body-ratio. The design on the back of the phone is where the OPPO F9 really stands out in physical appearance. As you tilt the phone, the sharp gradient colour scheme reveals the beautifully tiled flower petal pattern that lies underneath the crystal clear reflective surface. The F9 comes in three gradient colour options which are Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue and Starry Purple.
CAMERA
Dei.. the camera is no joke we tell you… We didn’t know if we should feel impressed or offended when the camera captured every wrinkle and freckle on our faces. What a show off! But yeah, like we said in the first paragraph, the camera is really something else. We started to play with it to take some shots for this review piece but ended up doing 3 different photo sessions using the phone. We kept exchanging ideas among ourselves that “If only we had this phone during our visit to the AniManGaki 2018, the results would have been amazing”. We’ll cover more on the Camera feature in an upcoming ‘Opinion Piece’ and share some of the shots we took. Meanwhile, here is a preview on what the camera can do.
