Ubisoft’s annual Press Conference for E3 ended with an impressive list of new games and expansions.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
The show kicked off with an official collaboration between Ubisoft and Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is an XCOM-styled tactical adventure game that is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Set in the Mushroom Kingdom, the Rabbids teams up with Mario to save the kingdom. The game features an attractively cute art style while the gameplay is comprehensive enough for the hardcore bunch.
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Next up is Assassin’s Creed: Origin. There wasn’t anything noteworthy except a for new trailer. The game is set in Ancient Egypt as the host to its own unique ecosystem. New mechanics were also introduced, such as a loot and levelling system. Due to be released on the 27th of October for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The Crew 2
The Crew 2 is just as it is – nothing to shout about. Imagine racing in North America with all the fast vehicles you can think of and Need for Speed graphics.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
This title is finally announced to be launched on the 17th of October. A new trailer was shown in the keynote, and a demo is available for those who pre-order the game. The pre-order comes with a copy of South Park: The Stick of Truth.
Skull & Bones
One of Ubisoft’s newest IP. Developed by Ubisoft Singapore and inspired by Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Naval combat. The game features a shared and systematic world. Ubisoft showed off the PvP aspect of gameplay, also it sounds like there’s a lot more in the game than just PvP sea battles with players. They’ve yet to announce an official release date.
Starlink: Battle For Atlas
Starlink is the new IP of Ubisoft. It features a range of physically collectible toy starships as part of the merchandise (think Amiibo with No Man Sky settings). These starships are also part of a custom attachment system that will be available for the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con. In Starlink, the player controls the starships to battle against the Forgotten Legion. Again, no release date was announced and it is unsure if the attachment is available for the PS4 and XBOX One.
Steep Expansion
Steep was up next with the announcement of its new expansion, Road to Olympics. It will be released on December 5th, in conjunction with the upcoming Olympics.
Just Dance 2018
Singer Bebe Rexha took the stage with her singing and her dancers andannouncement of the franchise’s next iteration. Just Dance 2018 is due for release on October for all major consoles.
Transference
Transference is a trippy psychological thriller on VR. It was interesting to see Elijah Wood introduce a game and the story somewhat reminds us of his persona in Sin City. The intriguing story element in Transference is definitely not for the weak hearted.
Beyond Good & Evil 2
The best moment of the whole presentation was the announcement of a much awaited title – Beyond Good & Evil 2. Michael Ancel came out on stage teary eyed along with the announcement of the game. Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a prequel to the 2003 original. Ubisoft has mentioned before that Ancel was working on a sequel but has since gone silent for nearly a decade. There isn’t any official release date but the trailer shows that it is underway and alive. Hopefully, the game will be out before the next generation of consoles.
Far Cry 5
The highly anticipated title that was announced before its showcase at the press conference. The trailer shows off some intense shootouts with the help of trust-able companions. The story has a strong unsettling vibe that focus on villainous cult terrorizing Hope County.
