The
lovechild(collaboration) of Onitsuka Tiger and Street Fighter V is finally here!
On the 27th of July, Onitsuka Tiger launched their collaboration with Capcom releasing the Street Fighter V edition of Mexico 66 SD. This collaboration marks the first Onitsuka Tiger video game-themed product.
Based on Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic Mexico 66, the collaboration created two colourways similar to Chun-Li’s costume – a combination of blue and yellow with Chun-Li’s signature dragon print on her belt. Adding to that, the Onitsuka Tiger and Street Fighter logos are both on the heel flaps.
The in-game codes that come with the sneakers are to unlock Chun-Li’s Onitsuka Tiger costume in SFV: Arcade Edition. The costume not only spots a Mexico 66 wearing Chun-Li, but she will be fully dressed in her signature coloured Onitsuka Tiger suits.
In conjunction with the collaboration, Onitsuka Tiger has invited 10 artists to create visual arts of Chun-Li adorning the Onitsuka Tiger costume. There’s also a special visual art of Chun-Li is designed by Masakazu Katsura to mark the collaboration.
It is already available starting from the 27th of July 2019, exclusively at official Onitsuka Tiger retail outlets in Sunway Pyramid, Mid Valley, Suria KLCC, Gurney Plaza and Southkey in Malaysia.
There are only 5000 pairs of these available, so… we wish you all the best in copping one!
Fun Fact: Onitsuka Tiger is one of the oldest shoemakers in Japan and the Mexico 66 was worn by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill while she opened up multiple cans of Whoop Ass!
