It supports both mouse and keyboard, as well as gamepad inputs, with its DirectStep™ interface ensuring a responsive RTS experience for gamepad users.
The narrative-driven single-player campaign centers around the Stormcast Eternals as they navigate the perilous swampland of Ghur in search of a powerful artifact. The unfolding story also introduces players to other factions, including the Orruk Kruleboyz, the Disciples of Tzeentch, and the Nighthaunt, each bringing unique strategic elements to the game.
In multiplayer, players engage in cross-platform battles, aiming to climb the competitive ladder. The game’s intricate dynamics include managing Victory Points and Arcane Conduit resource points, building structures, and advancing through a tech tree to unlock new abilities and units.
For solo players, the Conquest Mode offers a procedurally generated map for AI battles, with varying game conditions and objectives. This mode challenges players to achieve the highest possible score with different choices affecting the outcome.
Finally, the customization options in “Realms of Ruin” allow players to personalize their experience. The Army Livery tool lets players design faction color schemes, and the Map Editor enables the creation and sharing of custom multiplayer maps and battle dioramas, showcasing the game’s factions in detailed settings.
