Here is something we rarely see on the library of console games. Developed by Sam Barlow and published by Annapurna Interactive, Telling Lies is an FMV (Full-motion videogame). If you are familiar with Barlow’s first work, Her Story, then this game should be no stranger.
It launched in 2019 for the PC and IOS and thus far has won Best Performer at the Golden Joystick Awards as well as a BAFTA 2020 nomination.
With a stolen laptop full of video footage from the NSA. You, as the player, will be seated and sift through all those videos by collecting keywords, linking timelines and taking down notes in order to uncover the truth. Barlow describes the game as a “desktop thriller” as your actual game screen is of a virtual computer desktop.
One major key highlights of the game are the star-studded cast that are shown in these videos. The cast includes Logan Marshall-Green (Spider-Man: Homecoming & Prometheus), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse), Kerry Bishé (Argo) and Angela Sarafyan (Westworld).
Telling Lies has set its eyes on April 28th for the PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
