PUBG MOBILE’s Version 3.8 update is live, and it’s one of the game’s more ambitious content drops in recent memory. Running until July 6th, the update leans heavily into spectacle—merging anime-inspired Titan brawls with a steampunk aesthetic, plus tweaks to core gameplay and new tools for the sandbox-savvy in World of Wonder.
Attack on Titan Enters the Battlegrounds
The headline feature this time around is a crossover with Attack on Titan. Set primarily at Utgard Castle (recreated as a live battleground), the mode includes destructible environments, Titan transformations, and fan-favorite gear like the Omni-Directional Mobility (ODM) equipment.
Players can inject themselves with Titan Serums mid-match to temporarily become Pure Titans. A rarer “Attack Titan Serum” grants control of the iconic Attack Titan—limited to one per match, making it a highly-contested power spike. Meanwhile, a cinematic Colossal Titan appearance in northeast Erangel recreates a signature anime moment in real-time.
The ODM Gear also isn’t just for show; it enables fast-paced vertical combat and high-speed traversal, giving matches a different rhythm. Skins, weapons, and cosmetics themed around the anime will roll out on May 30th.
Full Steam Ahead: The Steampunk Frontier Mode
Stepping away from anime chaos, the new Steampunk Frontier mode reimagines Erangel, Livik, and Rondo with a sprinkle of fantasy-industrial worldbuilding. Expect giant steam trains, cargo hubs, airships, and the sprawling Aetherholm train station. Players can board and ride these trains, explore for loot, or fight in transit.
The trains themselves aren’t just decoration—they stop at key areas and can serve as mobile battlegrounds or loot runs. Clockwork Attendants offer buffs and supplies, and train rides double as mobile mini-events. The Express Train and Epoch Cargo Train each follow their own routes, with stops that feature puzzles, crates, and event-specific merchants.
Classic Mode Evolves: Tactical Tools and One-Handed Combat
Version 3.8 also introduces a few changes to Classic Mode—some subtle, others potentially meta-shifting. A new portable med pack gives players an extra lifeline when supporting teammates. The addition of the Pillar UAZ to Rondo adds a high-durability vehicle for late-game rotations.
Perhaps most notably, players can now wield one-handed weapons while driving motorcycles or bikes, which significantly changes how vehicular skirmishes might play out. Damaged tires can also now be swapped out on the go using spare tires—finally.
World of Wonder and Metro Royale Get a Boost
For fans of PUBG MOBILE’s creative sandbox, World of Wonder gets new toys: tracks and carriages for player-made train levels, the Welding Gun and M3E1-A Missile Launcher, plus rideable dinosaurs including a T. Rex vehicle. New enemies (Velociraptors), new skills (Summon Vehicle, Fixed Air Raid, etc.), and smarter search tools round out this section.
Metro Royale sees the introduction of hacking mechanics via portable military servers and new gear restriction systems meant to level the playing field. Worn-out train areas in Arctic Base and Misty Port add environmental variety, while tweaks to the Warehouse TDM include visible loadouts for all players.
Home Mode Overhaul and Social Features
The Home Mode revamp adds the Bronzework Bastion aesthetic, and lets players earn rewards based on their home’s prosperity level. Construction is more streamlined now, and merchant crates have been rebalanced to match the new theme.
On the social side, the Synergy Party event incentivizes team play with shared rewards, while system-level changes such as improved animal vehicle handling and explosive mechanics aim to make matches more unpredictable and dynamic.
Ranked Play and Seasonal Content
With the arrival of Cycle 8 Season 24, players can unlock new legendary cosmetics and tier rewards. A Hardcore Ultimate Royale mode is available for seasoned players who’ve previously reached Crown tier, with Sanhok among the available maps.
For those eyeing their rank, a Themed Mode Rating Protection event will run through May 25th, offering a little breathing room while testing out the new features.
