Pokémon Trading Card Game: Scarlet & Violet — Obsidian Flames With Type-Shifted Tera Pokémon Ex Launches Now

The Pokémon Company International has released the latest expansion in the bestselling Pokémon Trading Card Game, Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames, available now at participating retailers worldwide, including Pokémon Center, the premier online destination for official Pokémon merchandise.

The launch of the latest expansion marks the introduction of type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex to the Pokémon TCG, where certain Tera Pokémon ex cards will feature a different Energy type. In Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames, Trainers will see Charizard ex as a Darkness type versus its usual Fire type, as well as Tyranitar ex as a Lightning type versus its usual Fighting or Darkness type. When attacking, type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex will use the same Energy as their usual type; however, they will have a different Weakness that corresponds to their shifted type. These cards will also follow the same rules as normal Pokémon ex — when Knocked Out, a type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex gives up two Prize cards instead of one.

Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames is available now in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and special collections at Pokémon Center in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., as well as other participating retailers worldwide.

In addition, Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames is now digitally playable via the Pokémon TCG Live app for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows devices. Trainers can collect and battle with new type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex, and upon login, the Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames Battle Pass will reward players with a new deck featuring Darkness-type Charizard ex. Players can also unlock an additional premium deck featuring Toedscruel ex by redeeming Crystals, earned by completing daily quests.
