Nothing Launches Phone (2a) in Malaysia: A Blend of Innovation and User-Centric Design

In a significant expansion of its smartphone lineup, Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (2a) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 5, 2024. Building upon the success of its predecessor, Phone (2), the new model focuses on enhancing user experience by prioritizing core functionalities while incorporating Nothing’s signature innovation and design aesthetics. The Phone (2a) aims to cater to tech enthusiasts seeking innovative features without compromising on their essential smartphone needs.

The Phone (2a) is powered by the Dimensity 7200 Pro processor, a result of a collaboration between Nothing and MediaTek, ensuring peak performance and efficiency. This processor, combined with 20 GB of RAM and RAM Booster technology, promises a significant performance boost over its predecessors.

The smartphone also boasts a 50 MP dual rear camera system, equipped with the TrueLens Engine and Ultra XDR technology for life-like photo quality, alongside a high-performance 32 MP front camera.

Notably, the Phone (2a) features Nothing’s largest battery yet, a 5,000 mAh unit that promises up to two days of usage on a single charge, and supports 45W Fast Charging. The display is a 6.7″ flexible AMOLED panel offering vibrant colours and smooth interaction thanks to its 120 Hz refresh rate.

Design-wise, Phone (2a) continues Nothing’s tradition of distinctive aesthetics with its unique camera placement within the NFC coil, creating the iconic “eyes” look. The smartphone also introduces a 90° angle unibody cover, enhancing durability and design coherence.

Running on Nothing OS 2.5, the device is one of the few to launch with Android 14, promising three years of software updates and four years of security patches. The OS includes an expanded widget library and an AI-powered Wallpaper Studio for a personalized experience.

The Glyph Interface, a distinctive feature of Nothing’s smartphones, receives an update in Phone (2a), offering a new interaction mode through light and sound patterns.

In line with sustainability efforts, Phone (2a) features components made from 100% recycled materials, including aluminium, tin, and copper, showcasing Nothing’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

The Phone (2a) is available in two colour options, Black and Milk, with a single configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, priced at RM 1,699 in Malaysia. It will be available for purchase starting March 9, 2024, with pre-orders opening on March 6. The launch includes exclusive perks for early buyers at CROSSOVER Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya.

Phone (2a) will be publicly available in Malaysia on Saturday, March 9

In addition to the Phone (2a), Nothing also announced the launch of two new products under its CMF sub-brand: the Neckband Pro and Buds, expanding its portfolio of audio devices.
