Since the announcement for the upcoming My Time at Evershine was made a few days ago, fans of the My Time series are eager to learn what’s in store. Following the success of My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock, the developers are confident they can deliver another captivating experience while addressing past feedback.
Here’s everything we know so far about the game based on a recent FAQ the developer posted on the game’s Reddit sub.
Staying on Schedule and an Early Alpha Launch
Despite concerns over delays from Kickstarter campaigns, the team assures backers that they’ve gained enough experience from their previous projects to stay on track. They plan to open an alpha version early next year for eligible backers, allowing them to see progress firsthand.
Hardware Optimization
For those worried about Evershine requiring higher-end hardware, the team reassures that it will be well-optimized, similar to Sandrock. If your system can run Sandrock, it should handle Evershine just fine.
Multilingual Support
The game will offer support for a wide range of languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The team is open to suggestions for adding more languages in the future.
No Generative AI for Game or Art Design
The developers emphasize that they do not and will not use generative AI for creating game or marketing art. Instead, they rely on tools integrated into platforms like Photoshop and 3D Max for production optimization, ensuring no unethical practices are involved.
Influence from Project ME
While My Time at Evershine borrows some lore and ideas from the scrapped Project ME, the game has been completely redesigned. It maintains the beloved RPG elements and core experience that fans enjoyed in previous titles.
Platforms and Potential Nintendo Support
Evershine will be available on Steam, including Steam Deck, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Although it won’t support the current Nintendo Switch, the team is open to releasing the game on future Nintendo consoles. They’re also exploring the possibility of a mobile version.
Main Storyline and Side Content
The main storyline will be on par with My Time at Portia, offering a rich, narrative-driven experience. While side content is still being developed, players can expect plenty of additional activities to keep them engaged.
Deeper Romanceable Characters
Evershine promises deeper storylines and more complex interactions with romanceable NPCs. Core romanceable characters will feature personalized voice-acted dialogue, exclusive combat skills, and unique background music, akin to popular characters like Ginger, Gust, Logan, and Nia. Non-core characters will still have engaging stories but with less depth, similar to Paulie or Pablo.
Natural NPC Interactions
One issue from Sandrock involved NPCs teleporting around, breaking immersion. The developers are working to ensure NPC behaviour feels more natural and immersive in Evershine.
Dating and Reverse Confessions
Dating mechanics will be expanded with more diverse activities and confession scenarios. Reverse confessions, where NPCs confess to the player, will depend on the character’s personality.
Multiplayer Experience and Player Marriages
Players can look forward to a multiplayer experience that allows co-op in the single-player story. Excitingly, players will also have the option to marry each other in multiplayer, with more details on this feature coming soon.
Adjustable Difficulty and Hunger System
The game will offer multiple difficulty settings, which can be adjusted at any time. The hunger system will also adapt to the difficulty level chosen, giving players control over how demanding it becomes.
Balancing City-Building with the Main Story
The city-building aspect will not overshadow the main story. The team is focused on creating a balanced experience, and if city-building becomes overwhelming, they’ll scale it back to maintain a focus on narrative progression.
No Loss of Recruitable Characters
Fans can rest easy knowing that they won’t lose any recruitable characters unless they choose to.
New Art Style and Customization
Although the art style is changing, details will be revealed in a future Kickstarter update. In terms of character customization, Evershine will offer similar facial options to Sandrock, with added features like more beard types and a potential height slider, depending on Kickstarter goals.
Pets and NPC Photo Poses
Fans of pets will be delighted to know that Evershine will feature a variety of interesting pets, similar to previous games. The game will also include new NPC photo poses, keeping the number on par with Portia.
Children and Player Voice Acting
The system for raising children will be similar to Sandrock, with kids growing to a certain age. As for player voice acting, this is still a hotly debated topic within the studio, but for now, they’re leaning toward a dialogue system similar to Sandrock.
A Bright Future for My Time at Evershine
With a strong focus on story, character depth, and optimization, My Time at Evershine promises to build on the successes of the previous games while adding exciting new features.
Whether you’re a returning fan or new to the series, Evershine is shaping up to be an engaging and rich experience for all players. The Kickstarter event for Evershine will be launching today – September 24. Keep an eye out for more updates as we move closer to its release!
