Alder’s Blood puts you in the shoes of a monster slayer where you hunt down hellish creatures that were corrupted by a god. The slaying of these monsters is not only meant as a way to fight back but also the survival of humanity.
The grim world that is portrayed as a fusion of dark Victorian fantasy and the wild west. The choice of art-style fits so perfectly which brought out the best feeling of desolation. The game features several core aspects of its gameplay which brings a variety of ways to survive in its world.
What Alder Blood brings onto the table
- Having stealth and ambush-based combat along with turn-based mechanics means there is a need to employ strategy and good positioning in order to gain an upper hand in a fight.
- Furthermore, there is a myriad of monsters from vampires to werewolves which can prove to be a tough challenge even at the early stages, hence the need of good strategy employment as mentioned above. Many of these monsters have their own unique attacks and skills which you need to understand in order to make a countermove.
- While you play as a hunter, you will also need to recruit and train up other hunters in order to even the odds against you. All of these characters use a stamina mechanic which can be drained when performing simple actions such as attacking and casting spells.
- A vagabond’s exploration system means you can travel around its world and at the same time bringing your mobile base along with everyone anywhere. However, be warned that you will be ambushed by other enemies as well.
- You will get to forge alliances with many other factions to gain their trust which in turn help along your journey as well as your fight against the monsters.
- The need to survive means that you will need to manage your resources as well as crafting items to improve your chances of survival.
A date out for survival
Developer Shockwork Games and Publisher No Gravity games have given an official release date for their upcoming game. Alder’s Blood will launch on the Nintendo eshop on the March 13th, 2020. Pre-order now and you will get a 25% discount
Steam users will also be getting the game on the same date while PS4 and Xbox dates have not been confirmed yet.
Prologue to the horror
If March 13th is still far for you, Shockworks Games has announced that a prequel to the game called Alder’s Blood: Prologue which can be downloaded for free now.
This particular prologue acts as a sneak peek of the actual game as well as providing a bit of the back story of the entire game.
