When I received the code for this DLC, I was contemplating whether I should write a review about it, but if The Game Awards can give a DLC a chance of being the Game of the Year, I can review it and give it a score.

All jokes aside, it is no surprise that Stellar Blade x NieR: Automata DLC will arrive seeing how the CEO of SHIFT UP Hyung-tae Kim and Yoko Taro camaraderie. Fans of either game have been anticipating this DLC and they will not be disappointed by the “fan service” in this DLC.

    Worlds Collide

Sadly this DLC does not feature any new story but it encourages players who have completed the game to revisit areas to collect Stellar Tears which is the currency used to exchange with Emil that can be found around the Wasteland and Great Desert. The location of Stellar Tears can be found inside the menu’s Data Bank with just an image of a location either in Wasteland or Great Desert.

Emil will speak to you in Japanese no matter what voiceover you are having but before that, you have to shoot him to get his attention as he speeds around the lands. Besides Emil, there is no other character cameo in this DLC.

    An Army Worthy Wardrobe

It is no surprise that the DLC has no game mode as it costs only USD 9.99 or RM39.73 but it does come with one of the best Nier: Automata content we have in years. Not only do we have new suits for Eve, Adam and Lily also get some new drip with a fan service unofficial one exclusive for this game.

Here is the list of new suits that Eve has.

    YoRHa No.2 Type B Uniform (2B’s Uniform)

    YoRHa Type A No.2 Uniform (A2 Uniform)

YoRHa Uniform 1 (Switch exclusive DLC uniform)

YoRHa Unofficial Ceremonial Attire (Stellar Blade exclusive uniform)

On top of these, if you equip 2B’s or A2’s uniform and use the WB Pump when you are defeated. Those 2 uniforms will change to their respective Self Destruct Variant.

    YoRHa No.2 Type B Uniform Self-Destruct Variant

    YoRHa Type A No.2 Uniform Self-Destruct Variant

There are also the iconic blindfold and White Fox Mask accessories.

    Battle Googles

    White Fox Mask Style Hairstyle

Luckily this time, both Adam and Lily are not left out with the following outfit

    Adam

    • Emil’s Head
    • Pod 045 Pack

    Lily

    • YoRHa No.9 Type S Uniform

    Excellent Timing

The topping of this DLC is the timing of the Photo Mode release for Stellar Blade which is free whether you purchase the DLC or not. Together with the NieR: Automata DLC, you can create some funny moments. Like this:

Well, not perfect, Stellar Blade x NieR: Automata DLC is a worthwhile DLC if you are a fan of NieR: Automata. Compared to some other games, the pricing and the number of skins you get in this DLC are acceptable. For me, the only downside is there is not much story content about NieR: Automata that came with the DLC.

    Final Score 9/10
