Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro), a significant update to its PS5 family. The PS5 Pro aims to deliver a more visually compelling gaming experience with sharper image clarity, faster gameplay, and advanced ray tracing technology. The new console will be released on November 7, 2024, priced at $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (including tax). It will come equipped with a 2TB solid-state drive and a DualSense wireless controller.
The PS5 Pro offers a substantial GPU performance boost, 67% more Compute Units, and 28% faster memory compared to the standard PS5. This leads to a 45% faster rendering speed, enabling smoother and more dynamic gameplay. With features like advanced ray tracing and AI-driven upscaling through PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, the console promises sharper visuals and more lifelike light reflections.
The PS5 Pro is also future-proofed with Wi-Fi 7, enabling faster wireless connectivity in regions supporting this technology.

Many upcoming titles will feature a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” designation, including Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and more. These titles are designed to take full advantage of the PS5 Pro’s enhanced features.
In addition to new titles, over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games will benefit from the PS5 Pro’s Game Boost feature, offering performance improvements. PS4 games will also see enhanced image quality when played on the new console.
The PS5 Pro will be available in time for the holiday shopping season, with pre-orders beginning on September 26, 2024, at participating retailers and on PlayStation’s official website.
