MechWarrior 5: Clans, a new, narrative-driven entry into the MechWarrior franchise, arrives on Xbox Game Pass & PC Game Pass while simultaneously launching Oct. 16th at 5:00p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (Oct. 17 at 00:00 UTC) on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for $49.99.
Developer Piranha Games also dropped nearly three minutes of all-new gameplay video now featuring tense moments from Smuggler’s Den, a mission within MechWarrior 5: Clans’ cinematic-driven story.
The video looks at Smuggler’s Den and spotlights the hard-hitting action the MechWarrior series is known for as missiles, lasers and particle projector cannon blasts fly.
In MechWarrior 5: Clans, combat advances a rich, overarching narrative throughout a campaign that’s playable entirely solo or in five-player co-op.
MechWarrior 5: Clans is Piranha Games’ third game in the MechWarrior franchise, following the wildly successful 2013 MMO MechWarrior Online and 2019 single player/co-op sandbox game MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
In contrast, MechWarrior 5: Clans brings a story rich, linear-based single player/co-op narrative-driven action game to fans for the first time in decades – a complete departure from previous MechWarrior entries, solidifying Piranha Games as one of the industry’s most dynamic studios as it continues to forge entirely new gameplay genres and game design with each new MechWarrior release.
Piranha Games also announced MechWarrior 5: Clans’ Digital Collectors Edition details today, which bundles the below for $79.99:
- A copy of MechWarrior 5: Clans
- Exclusive in-game content:
- Platinum Mech Patterns
- A Timber Wolf WAR Omnimech with Unique Weapon Loadout and Skin
- A Bonus 36-Song Digital Soundtrack
- A Bonus 70-Page Digital Artbook (to be further expanded post launch)
- An Omnimech Technical Readout (a reference specific to this Mech, its design and capabilities, to be further expanded post launch)
Hailed as All Quiet on the Western Front with Mechs from the most recent media preview in Digital Trends, MechWarrior 5: Clans follows Piranha’s 2019 hit, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, an open-ended, procedural experience that sold more than 2 million units while securing its current 84% Very Positive ranking on Steam from more than 7,500 user reviews.
MechWarrior 5: Clans is enjoyable as a self-contained campaign with a gripping narrative and tense, thrilling combat without any prior knowledge of the MechWarrior universe.
MechWarrior 5: Clans sports an exciting set of gameplay features for new and veteran pilots:
- The Clan Invasion is Here: For the first time since MechWarrior 2 (released in 1995), pilots can immerse themselves in an action-packed Clan Invasion story – one of the most epic time periods in the franchise that changed the course of the Inner Sphere’s factions and politics forever. MechWarrior 5: Clans is the absolute perfect entry point into the MechWarrior universe for newcomers, and the game that veteran pilots have been waiting more than 30 years to play.
- This Isn’t Run-and-Gun, This is MechWarrior: Celebrated core MechWarrior combat returns in MechWarrior 5: Clans. Pilots must strategically plan and execute Star-based team assaults if they are going to bring honor to Clan Smoke Jaguar while advancing their position within the Inner Sphere.
- Customizable Mechs: Victory starts in your Mech Lab with an expanded collection of technologically advanced Clan weapon systems, equipment and Upgrades. Clan Mech’s superior technology grants you the ability to swap out larger parts for greater customization and functionality ahead of assaults. Plan accordingly based on terrain, structure and biome specificity for the best chance at victory.
- All-Star Strategy: Your squadron (aka your Star) is depending on you. Protect the members of your Star in battle, deepening your bond as you engage the Inner Sphere’s determined defenders. Immerse yourself in the story as you lead your Star through narratively driven missions and thrilling combat.
- Stunning Visual Design: Harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 5, MechWarrior 5: Clans abounds in environmental detail and destruction – from precisely designed confined cityscapes to bogs spanning incredible distances, battles will take shape on breathtaking landscapes and the complex infrastructure of the Inner Sphere.
