Planetarium is proud to announce that its upcoming title, Nine Chronicles, has surpassed 60,000 signups for the upcoming launch of the closed beta.
Planetarium also delighted to report that it has signed partnerships with Ubisoft, one of the world’s leading gaming companies, and Hashed, a global venture fund focused on blockchain, to prepare for and maximize the potential of Nine Chronicles.
Based on Planetarium’s Libplanet blockchain engine, Nine Chronicles is a free-to-play RPG set in a vast fantasy world – governed by its players, and supported by a complex economy where supply and demand are the greatest currency.
Just six weeks after opening the closed beta, Planetarium received support from players in no less than 32 different countries. More than half of the signups are gamers without prior blockchain experience, and private sales volume was sold out in the first month of offering, in April.
With such overwhelming support from the community, Planetarium aims to benefit from the closed beta to receive key feedback from gamers, as well as to test its game-specific blockchain technology with thousands of players around the globe. To help prepare for the future of Nine Chronicles, Planetarium will benefit from the guidance and experience of leading and global companies, Ubisoft and Hashed. The partnership aims to help the company’s blockchain game – growing its ecosystem, supporting its main net operation, and advising on in-game economy design.
“Decentralized gaming is still in its nascent stage, and Nine Chronicles is an exciting opportunity for the future of open-source online games powered by the community itself. We are very happy to continue our relationship with Ubisoft, and be partnered with Hashed to build out this ecosystem.”
Kijun Seo – Planetarium’s CEO
As one of the first companies from Asia to have been selected for Ubisoft’s Entrepreneurs Lab, a global startup program fostered by Ubisoft, Planetarium is thrilled by the opportunity to extend this collaboration further.
“Ubisoft is always looking for new ideas to empower gamers, and Planetarium is paving the way towards more creative freedom for the community. The open-source model coupled with an open economy will create interesting new possibilities for players and we are eager to see where this path leads us.”
Nicolas Pouard – Blockchain Initiative Director at Ubisoft
