Longboarding Raccoons – ‘Tanuki Sunset’ Is Now On Switch

Rewind Games recently announced the availability of their first skateboarding adventure game, Tanuki Sunset, on Nintendo Switch. Released on Christmas Eve, the game marks a significant point in the company’s history, reflecting both their journey and the role of their supportive community.

The concept for Tanuki Sunset emerged in 2019 following a trip to Japan, where the idea of longboarding raccoons in a forest came to life. After four years of development, the game’s launch on a Nintendo platform symbolizes both Rewind Games’ commitment and the valuable input from their itch.io community, which helped shape the game.

Throughout their journey, the team experienced both challenges and growth. They navigated the intricacies of the gaming industry independently, which provided them the freedom to steer their project as they envisioned. However, the path was not without hurdles. They faced unforeseen difficulties and the loss of their colleague, Nick Alfieri, who was instrumental in their journey. His memory is honoured with this Nintendo Switch port release.

The team’s personal lives also intermingled with their professional work. The birth of a daughter to one of the co-founding partners in 2022 stands out as a notable personal milestone. These experiences underscore the importance of balancing work and life.

With the launch of Tanuki Sunset on Nintendo Switch, the team acknowledges both the hardships and joys encountered along the way. These experiences have influenced not only their game but also their team dynamics and company culture.

Key features of Tanuki Sunset on Nintendo Switch include multilingual support (French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese), optimized performance for a smooth 60 FPS gameplay experience, and a unique narrative-driven skateboarding adventure.

Rewind Games thanks its players and community for their continuous support and enthusiasm, which have been vital throughout the development process.

Tanuki Sunset is now available for download in the Nintendo eShop in the Americas, Europe, and Japan.
