There aren’t many games that allow you to brew coffee whilst having heart-to-heart talks with eccentric customers. So out comes Indie developer Toge Productions with Coffee Talk. The game is finally making its way to both PS4 and Xbox One.
The best word to describe the game is simply a talking simulator with a mini-game that comes in the form of brewing different types of coffee. While that may sound rather bland at the start, however, the game’s description seems to depict that there is more:
Coffee Talk is a game about listening to people’s problems and helping them by serving up a warm drink out of the ingredients you have in stock. It is a game that depicts lives as humanly as possible while having a cast that is more than just humans.
Immerse yourself in the stories of alternative-Seattle inhabitants, ranging from a dramatic love story between an elf and a succubus, an alien trying to understand humans’ lives, and many others modern readers will find strongly echo the world around them.
The game clearly drew quite a number of elements from VA-11 Hall-A which is also making its way for a console release. The game puts your little cafe at a spot of a fantasy alternative-Seattle where other races such as Orcs, Elves, mermaids and many others living together among the human race. Many characters you interact will have branching stories which are affected not by your dialogue choices but on how well you serve your beverage drink.
The 90’s pixel styled look gives the game a rather interesting charm and with the addition of selection of jazzy kind of music that accompanies well as you serve and converse with customers.
Coffee Talk is currently still in development stages for both consoles as well as PC. Nonetheless, a downloadable demo is available only at Steam for the time being.
