The latest free content update for Borderlands 3 has been announced by 2K. Borderlands 3’s Takedown at the Guardian Breach is now live for players to explore with the addition of a new patch modifying Mayhem Mode 2.0, the infamous end-game levelling system. Check out the trailer below:
Put your skills to the test in this new endgame gauntlet-style battle with your best buddies! This new Takedown is an extreme challenge that scales to the number of players in your party but is intended to push a full party of four levelled-up Vault Hunters to the limit. Together you’ll undertake a reconnaissance mission to the planet of Minos Prime to locate the source of a mysterious Guardian signal. Upon arrival, you’ll be besieged by a sect of rogue Guardians who have irrevocably transformed Minos Prime.
Alongside the addition of new enemies, low-gravity platforming sections, and environmental puzzles, players will have to overcome both a miniboss and a final boss battle. By any chance you survive, a plethora of items awaits you as a reward of your victory that includes themed weapons, gear, and collectible cosmetics.
In order to access Takedowns, you’ll need to have finished the main story campaign. But it’s highly recommended that you only take them on after you’ve hit max level, found a build that suits you, and have a weapon and gear loadout that powers up that build’s strengths. For the ultimate test, you can activate True Takedown Mode by flipping a switch near the first door on Minos Prime, which tunes the encounters to challenge a full party of four tightly coordinated players. And of course, you can up the ante further with Mayhem Mode; in multiplayer, the host’s chosen Mayhem Level will affect the entire party.
Adding on to the new update, today also marks the beginning of Phase 1 in the Borderlands 3 development team’s plan to fine-tune Mayhem Mode 2.0, Borderlands 3‘s end-game levelling system. Phase 1 focuses on Mayhem Level stat scaling and gear changes but also brings with it several quality-of-life updates.
