ASUS Republic of Gamers Malaysia Announces ROG Ally X: Elevating Windows Handheld Gaming

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Malaysia today announced the latest model of its popular ROG Ally handheld game console, the ROG Ally X. Designed to take Windows 11 gaming on the go to new heights, the ROG Ally X boasts significant hardware improvements, including enhanced storage, memory, battery life, and updated controls. Gamers can pre-order the ROG Ally X now and enjoy exclusive freebies worth RM658.

More Storage, Faster RAM, and Longer Battery Life

The ROG Ally X is built with user feedback at its core, offering numerous internal upgrades. A new 1 TB SSD provides ample space for all your games, while a redesigned motherboard featuring an M.2 2280 form factor slot allows for easy storage upgrades. The device is also equipped with 24 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM, offering better performance for the next generation of AAA titles by allocating more memory to both the system and GPU.

To complement these upgrades, the ROG Ally X comes with an 80 Wh battery, double the capacity of the previous model, ensuring longer gaming sessions away from a power source. Despite the larger battery, the device only weighs 70 grams more than the original ROG Ally, with weight distribution optimized for comfortable play and portability.

    Updated Controls and Connectivity

The ROG Ally X features a redesigned black chassis with deeper handles and a more rounded shape for improved ergonomics. The joysticks and D-Pad have been upgraded for more precise control, with stiffer springs and a more accurate eight-direction input. The device also includes two USB-C® ports, one of which is Thunderbolt™-compatible, replacing the original XG Mobile port for greater flexibility with third-party docks and external GPUs.

    Improved Thermals All Around

To support the new battery, the ROG Ally X includes smaller, more efficient fans with thinner blades, enhancing airflow and cooling. The device features a third exhaust vent on the upper edge, allowing 24% more air volume to be pushed through, cooling both internal components and the touch screen, which remains up to 6°C cooler for more comfortable long-term usage.

    Availability & Pricing

The ROG Ally X (2024) is officially priced at RM 4,299 in Malaysia. From July 17 to July 31, 2024, pre-order customers will receive a bundle worth RM658, including an ROG ALLY Premium Hard Case, ROG Gaming Charger Dock, and Screen Protector, while stocks last.
