Sony has officially announced that the PlayStation 5 Pro will be launching in Malaysia on November 7, 2024, with a suggested retail price (SRP) of RM 3,849.
Pre-orders will open at participating retailers starting on September 26, 2024, giving Malaysian gamers a chance to secure their units ahead of the holiday season.
The PS5 Pro represents a significant upgrade from the current PS5 model, featuring a 67% increase in GPU compute units, 28% faster memory, and up to 45% faster rendering for smoother gameplay. These advancements are aimed at delivering high-fidelity graphics and improved frame rates, with support for up to 60 FPS in demanding titles. Enhanced ray tracing and AI-driven upscaling further elevate the visual experience, making it Sony’s most powerful console to date.
This Malaysian launch comes as part of a broader regional rollout, with Singapore also getting the PS5 Pro at an SRP of SGD 1,069. While the PS5 Pro’s price tag is notably higher than the standard PS5, the console comes with enhancements — such as backward compatibility for over 8,500 PS4 games and support for Wi-Fi 7, VRR, and 8K gaming.
Additionally, several popular titles will receive free updates optimized for the PS5 Pro, including “Alan Wake 2,” “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” and more.
