In line with its commitment and innovation philosophy, HUAWEI has launched its next-generation foldable smartphone, HUAWEI Xs 2 on 28th April 2022, in China. The latest model was designed to address three major pain points users still experience with this form factor: the bulky designs, creasing on the screen at the hinge, and a lack of durability.
Adopting the latest Falcon Wing Hinge, HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 presents groundbreaking technology with a remarkable visual sensation, as well as enhanced durability, which will help the company strengthen its overall smartphone market leadership and put it on an equal footing with high-end smartphone leaders.
A Foldable Smartphone Breakdown
Foldable phones are also significantly more likely than traditional mobile phones to accumulate scratches, their screens tend to crease after a certain amount of use, and they are noticeably bulkier. With so many mainstream phone makers releasing their own foldable models, it is unsurprising that new technological solutions to these problems are coming out every day.
For HUAWEI, their first foldable phone was designed to be an alternative solution to the bezel-less display. Like bezel-less phones, the goal of the foldable Mate X was to deliver a larger screen in a physically smaller device. Now, foldable phones are categorized based on how they achieve the folding effect into inner folding, outer folding, folding along the X-axis, and folding along the Y-axis. Outer folding phones are currently the most common and commercially available. Their stunning design compliments the lighter bodies since only one screen is needed, reserving more space for other components. Outer folding phones also do not need a front camera since the rear cameras can be used for selfies.
