Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, And S22 Ultra Unveiled – Price and Pre-Order Deals Detailed.

Samsung’s highly-anticipated annual Galaxy Unpacked event is finally here and with its arrival, fans finally get to see for themselves the South Korean tech conglomerate’s vision for the future.

The announcement of Samsung’s next S-series flagship phone’s arrival is finally here (officially). The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is the most powerful Galaxy phone Samsung has produced and they look as attractive as ever.

Coming in 3 variants, the Galaxy S22 series comes in the basic S22 model, the S22+, and of course, the mighty S22 Ultra. Here’s a quick breakdown of how the models compare.

    S22 & S22+

In the display department, the S22 comes with a 6.1″ FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with the Super Smooth 120Hz refresh rate, compared to the SS2+’s larger 6.6″ FHD+ panel. The smaller phone weighs 168g to the bigger’s 196g, a small difference.

Both phones carry the same cameras with a 10MP front cam, 12MP Ultra-Wide (F2.2 120-FOV), 50MP Wide Cam, and a 10MP Telephoto cam. The S22 series also features the new Nightography that includes a 23% larger sensor than the previous S21 and S21+, and Adaptive Pixel Technology that lets the camera draw in more light, draw out details and capture deeper colours even in the dark. The new Auto Framing in the camera technology detects up to 10 people and automatically adjusts the camera’s focus to produce a picture clear photograph

    S22 Plus

Memory and storage wise, both the S22 and S22+ come in the choices of 8GB RAM 128GB or 8GB RAM 128GB. Malaysian buyers will see the phones armed with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset (yay!)

The S22+ carries a larger battery capacity at 4,500 mAh with wired charging up to 45W (yay!), compared to the base model’s 3,700 mAh charging only up to 25W. Both support 15W wireless charging and wireless PowerShare.

    Here’s how much they cost:

    S22 5G 8GB RAM + 128GB – RM 3,499
    S22 5G 8GB RAM + 256GB – RM 3,699
    S22+ 5G 8GB RAM + 128GB – RM 4,099
    S22+ 5G 8GB RAM + 256GB – RM 4,299

The S22 and S22+ will be available in 4 colours; Phantom Silver, Phantom Black, Green, and Pink Gold.

    S22 Ultra

Now, here comes the champ. The S22 Ultra stands proud on its 6.8″ Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with Vision Booster and Super Smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

As far as the camera department goes, the phone doesn’t disappoint with its 12MP Ultra Wide Cam (F2.2 FOV-120), a 108MP Wide Cam (Dual Pixel AF, F1.8, FOV-85), a 10MP Telephoto Cam with 3x Optical Zoom (F2.4 FOV-36), a 10MP Telephoto Cam with 10x Optical Zoom (F4.9 FOV-11), and a 40MP Front Camera (F2.2 FOV-80).

For phone-videographers, the Ultra is built with a 2.4um pixel sensor, Samsung’s largest pixel sensor to date. This allows the lenses to capture more light and data and optimise the lighting and detail of video clips. The phone’s advanced Super Clear Glass lens also provides the advantage for taking smoother and clearer nighttime videos without the disturbance of flares.

For those who disliked the previous S21 Ultra’s bulky rear camera housing, the new S22 Ultra has a clean look and without the distracting camera bump.

    The Ultra device comes in more variants than its lower-spec brothers and this is how much it costs;

    S22 Ultra 5G 12GB RAM + 1TB (Not available in Malaysia)
    S22 Ultra 5G 12GB RAM + 512GB – RM 5,899
    S22 Ultra 5G 12GB RAM + 256GB – RM 5,499
    S22 Ultra 5G 8GB RAM + 128GB – RM 5,099

The S22 Ultra is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and powered by a 5,000 mAh battery that supports charging up to 45W (wired) and 15W wirelessly, with Wireless PowerShare.

For the first time ever, the Galaxy S series will see its phone coming with a Stylus. Indeed, what was the trademark of the Galaxy Note series is now part of the S22 Ultra’s identity. Rest in peace, Galaxy Note!

The S22 Ultra comes in 4 colours; Phantom Silver, Phantom Black, Green, and Burgundy.

All the S22 unit comes installed with Android 12, One UI 4.1, and are 5G ready. The phones are also IP68 rated which protects the device up to 1.5meter of freshwater submersion for up to 30 minutes. The phones are not advised for beach or pool use.
