ASUS ProArt Display OLED PA32DC Will Be Available By July 2022

ASUS has announced that the ProArt Display OLED PA32DC will be available on shelves beginning July 2022. The monitor is the first OLED reference monitor with automatic calibration. It features a built-in motorized flip colourimeter to ensure professional-grade colour accuracy.

This glorious 31.5-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) HDR reference monitor offers a cutting-edge OLED panel with pure RGB stripes and 99% DCI-P3 coverage to deliver highly accurate colours that bring out the finest details in every creation. PA32DC has a multi-award-winning design, earning accolades that include a 2022 Red Dot Award and a 2021 Japan Good Design Award.

Multiple HDR format support provides creators with the ideal platform for working with fast-moving HDR content. For comfort and convenience, PA32DC includes a pair of monitor feet and a stand to cater to any viewing position or work setup.

With ASUS Auto Calibration, ASUS ProArt calibration software, and both Calman and Light Illusion ColourSpace CMS professional hardware-calibration software, professional-grade colour accuracy is assured ― and PA32DC is factory pre-calibrated to guarantee an industry-leading colour accuracy of Delta E<1.

It also offers VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio to ensure the deepest blacks and brightest whites, enabling PA32DC to accurately display the most minute details in shadows and bright highlights for incredibly realistic visuals. A superfast 0.1 ms response time ensures blur-free video or animated content.

    Amazing OLED Experiences

ProArt Display OLED PA32DC incorporates OLED technology to achieve ultra-precise control and extreme contrast, by making each individual pixel its own light source. The new display features a pure RGB-stripe OLED panel with billions of self-illuminating pixels that can be individually activated to reproduce truly lifelike imagery with deep blacks and enhanced colour contrast for high-luminance images. These characteristics make PA32DC a natural fit for HDR content mastering.

PA32DC delivers exceptionally detailed and realistic visuals that exceed industry colour-reproduction standards, with a studio-grade 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut. This means that the colours reproduced on the display are richer and more vivid, so it’s ideal for colour-intensive projects but also enhances any kind of content. It also features true 10-bit colour depth to display more than 1.07 billion colours.

Designers, producers and colour-solution companies deal with colour-critical decisions and communications each day. ProArt displays are factory pre-calibrated to guarantee industry-leading colour accuracy, offering colour accuracy with a Delta E<1 colour difference value ― and PA32DC is no exception. It undergoes stringent and meticulous testing to ensure smoother colour gradation, and each grayscale level is carefully measured and set to comply with the DICOM standard for medical use.

PA32DC reproduces black hues perfectly. Since each OLED pixel uses self-generated illumination, it simply turns off to display the deepest possible black shade for extremely crisp and clear images, even in the darkest scenes. As well, VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio ensure the deepest blacks and brightest whites, enabling PA32DC to accurately display the most minute details in shadows and bright highlights for incredibly realistic visuals.

All this is backed by a superfast response time of just 0.1 ms, ensuring, blur-free video or animated content.

    Intuitive and Intelligent Calibration

To maintain professional-level accuracy over the long term, ProArt Display OLED PA32DC benefits from a built-in motorized flip colourimeter that moves into place when required, even when the display hood is mounted. This feature makes it easy to calibrate the display, as needed.

PA32DC can also be calibrated and the look-up table subsequently rewritten via the ASUS ProArt calibration software that offers colour tuning accuracy and uniformity compensation. It writes and saves colour parameter profiles on the PA32DC’s internal scaler IC chip, instead of on the PC, allowing users to connect it to devices with different operating systems or applications without needing to adjust settings. The saved profiles can be easily activated via the hotkey on the monitor.

The built-in colourimeter also works seamlessly with Calman and Light Illusion ColourSpace CMS professional hardware-calibration software.

    Uniform Brightness Setting

OLED displays feature an Auto Brightness Limiter (ABL) to maximize power use. When displaying a white (or bright) image in a particular window, the display automatically dims the image as the window size increases.

The optional Uniform Brightness function in the OSD menu is particularly useful when switching between, or changing the size of windows with vastly different contrast levels as it keeps brightness levels consistent for comfortable viewing and more accurate colours, even after hours of use.

    Create Ultra-vivid HDR

PA32DC supports multiple HDR formats, including HDR10 and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) for unmatched levels of brightness, contrast and colours.

Several HDR10 curves are also supported, including the PQ hard clip curve, PQ Optimized and PQ Basic — all to suit the specific needs of content creators and ensure compatibility with existing video streaming services and a growing list of HDR-enabled games.

PA32DC’s support for HLG support means it’s ready for professional use in the TV industry, allowing users to view and create material for broadcast and satellite TV platforms such as BBC iPlayer, Japan NHK TV, and DirecTV.

PA32DC also features an HDR Preview feature for a better editing experience. This enables a direct camera-to-monitor connection to view captured HDR content with its full tonal range. It also works with video-editing software, enabling creators to view their final output for a more streamlined editing process.

    Streamlined, Efficient Workflows

PA32DC offers a full-function USB-C, DisplayPort 1.4 and three HDMI 2.0 ports for compatibility with current and future displays and peripherals. It also features an earphone jack and can function as a USB hub, so it’s ready to fit right into existing setups and workflows.

It’s also easy to deploy PA32DC in any scenario, with a pair of monitor feet and a stand that allow users to find the optimal working or viewing position when working on location. The bundled ergonomic stand offers tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustments. Being able to pivot the screen 90° clockwise or anticlockwise to portrait orientation comes in handy when working with long documents, coding or browsing websites. In addition, bundled clips make it easy to manage cables to keep desks and work areas tidy, while the sturdy and elegant metal handle means PA32DC can be conveniently carried anywhere it’s needed.

PA32DC is designed to be used in diverse settings and environments, and it includes a wraparound hood to reduce on-screen reflections from nearby light sources. This enables users to work with confidence when inside the studio or out on location. The auto-calibration works even with the monitor hood mounted.
