Yoodo & PUBG MOBILE Set Up Ultimate Battle Royale For Young Gamers

Yoodo, Malaysia’s first fully customisable and 100% digital mobile service and PUBG MOBILE celebrated young gaming talent at the epic conclusion of Malaysia’s first official PUBG MOBILE Campus Championship (PMCC) 2019 which took place at ioi Mall, Puchong.

DarkHorse, a team of four students from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), sniped the competition to emerge as the very first PMCC champions. They beat out 60 other students from 15 of Malaysia’s best campus-based PUBG MOBILE teams to bring home RM18,000, the iconic gold pan trophy and bragging rights for their university.

“The reception for PMCC 2019 has been fantastic,” said Chow Tuck Mun, Head of Yoodo. “The mission when we launched PMCC was to encourage and empower young gamers. I would certainly say – mission accomplished. PMCC has been buzzing since the beginning with thousands participating and tuning in to catch the action.” He went on to add that interest in local gaming and esports was at an all-time high and Yoodo was proud to be one of those leading the charge.

Besides a sumptuous chicken dinner, each member of DarkHorse also walked away with 1-year mobile plan from Yoodo and 1-year of Boost credits. For their valour and bravery they also received an exclusive direct invite to the Grand Finals of PUBG MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) 2020. There they will be able to test their mettle against Malaysia’s top amateur teams.

“PMCC 2019 has been a feast for the eyes! We have seen some truly incredible skills and kills from our top 16 teams here today. I am glad that PMCC has been able to shed more light on the immense talent pool here in Malaysia. I look forward to more exciting achievements from these young gamers,” added Tuck Mun.

Malaysia’s first ever campus exclusive PUBG MOBILE national tournament kicked off on 24th of September featuring a RM60,000 prize pool. PUBG MOBILE fans were instantly attracted to the competition with close to 6,000 students from all across the country participating. Battles galore then unfolded across 7 qualifier events where there were 2 for Kuala Lumpur & Selangor as well as one each for the north, south, east, west regions and 1 for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.

Commenting on the tournament Maggie Huang, Malaysia Country Manager, PUBG MOBILE said, “This first ever PUBG MOBILE campus tournament in Malaysia was in recognition of the immense support we have received from students here. This support has stayed true throughout the tournament with great participation from the players and fans alike.”

Fans at the PMCC 2019 Grand Finals were also treated to a special celebrity show match, amongst them familiar faces like Elizabeth Tan, Luqman Podolski, Firdaus ‘Master Ramen’ Hashim and many others.

Master Ramen and his team of three young fans employed the camping tactic perfectly to best the competition. The three primary-school aged boys were each rewarded with RM300 from Boost for their monumental victory.
